Picking up the torch from jrsm & awmperry here are codebooks for 2017. The format is somewhat different from previous years. For a start the keysetting for the 3 rotor enigma now including UKW changing, but it also includes keys and bigrams for the 4 rotor enigma to be used with TRITON procedure. Besides the attached zipfiles with all the keysheets in it you can also go to meinenigma.com/EWCG_2017.html and pick the model, format and month there. EWCG_keysheets_2017.zip (632.94 KB) Just so it's easier to find, message instructions. Since this forum comes from www.enigmaworldcodegroup.com we are using the procedure from there. For 3 rotor enigma we use enigma model M3 Please mark any message encrypted with this keys and procedure with [EWCG2017] The procedure to encrypting a message is at www.enigmaworldcodegroup.com/create-an-enigma-message The procedure to decrypt is at www.enigmaworldcodegroup.com/encrypting-a-message For 4 rotor enigma we use the TRITON/navy/uboat procedure Please mark any message encrypted with this keys and procedure with [EWCG2017TRITON] The procedure to encrypt a message is at www.enigmaworldcodegroup.com/encypting-kriegsmarine The decrypt procedure at is at www.enigmaworldcodegroup.com/decrypting-kriegsmarine[EWCG2017TRITON] [FLK]The triton procedures above uses a three letter message key but there is also a procedure that uses all four letters in the message key. Around August 2017 people in this forum started using all four letters in the messages and when doing so another tag was added. It was some other tags first but in the end stabilized as - [FLK] so when using all four letters in the message key please append [FLK] also.

Thank you lpaseen.
Best wishes for 2017 to you and all the EWCG members. One question. Which bigram sheet do we use?

Thank you lpaseen. Best wishes for 2017 to you and all the EWCG members. One question. Which bigram sheet do we use? Not sure what you wondering about, for January 2017 we use the bigram sheet named EWCG_Bigramtable_2017-01.pdf or EWCG_Bigramtable_2017-01.txt. The txt file is same as the pdf, just that it's in text format so it can be used in scripts (which is what I do).

I read the message on my phone, hadn't seen the zip file. My bad. ;-)

I read the message on my phone, hadn't seen the zip file. My bad. ;-) Just noticed that my self, in tapatalk that I use on the phone attachments are in the end, not the middle of the text - and I guess I could have mentioned "bigram" in the zipfiles name.

Thanks for the new keys.
That key generator at meinenigma.com is quite impressive...I love the way it can be random or can be made to give out same settings if provided with same passwords...
Kudos to the maker.

Since I'm new, having only used the U571 encoding method, on the plugboard with the EWCG codesheets, do you use the alphabet conversion to match the plugs? In the Jan 2017 day 31 EWCG sheet the following plugboard settings are listed:
BH DL EI FQ JW KZ MT NY OS UX
translates to:
01-08 04-12 etc

Yes, if you need numeric instead of letters it's a straight conversion (but 2/8 not 1/8). You can also go to meinenigma.com/EWCG_2017.html and a bit down click on "EWCGM3_201701". That will take you yo the key sheet generator page. There you can then check the "numeric plugboard" checkbox and generate same keys but with numeric values instead sparing you the work of converting it.

Thanks for the quick response. The 0108 was a typo on my part, I meant 0208. But the new info will ease that conversion for me.

lpaseen,
Are you planning to add the Offizier code sheets to the 2018 EQCG codebook?
Also, please note that Bruce Culp has revised the M4 procedure on the website.
One other thing, Bruce and I are working to be able to provide an authentic as possible Short Signal procedure to include all 7 documents except the codebook pages which you have done. Part of it is done already. The Marinefunknamenliste (listing of U-boats and trigram), Kurzsignalheft Heft II which is the Buchgruppenheft portion are both completed. I also have a draft Kenngruppenheft. Kurzsignalheft Heft I, or the Satzbuch is a work in progress and I'm trying to get as much information from the Enigma gurus as possible.
Mauser sends.

It was some other tags first but in the end stabilized as - [FLK] so when using all four letters in the message key please append [FLK] also. The link for the encrypting procedure for the 4-rotor M4 Enigma is broken as it might have been changed. The correct link is: www.enigmaworldcodegroup.com/basic-encrypting-and-sending-proced Likewise, the link for the decrypting procedure is also broken and is now: www.enigmaworldcodegroup.com/basic-decrypting-procedureBoth of these procedures have been updated to reflect the Triton M4 four letter message key procedure adopted in February 1942. As such, using the supplementary tag of [FLK] is now optional provided the tag [EWCG2017TRITON] is used and the procedure at the above links are followed. In 2018, expect the following simulated documents to be available for Kriegsmarine message procedures: Kenngruppenbuch Schlüssel M Offizier (likely to be built in by lpaseen) Schlüssel M Nixe (again, likely add in by lpaseen) Kenngruppenheft for Short-signals (Kurzsignale) Kurzsignalheft (Will include the Satzbuch, Heft I and the Buchgruppenheft, Heft II) Marinefunknamenliste Bruce Culp and I will be working on detailed instructions for their use as well. Here are the proposed bigram tables for 2018. We will have the K-Book available in short order as Bruce and I are working on the instructions. Mauser sends. Bigram Tables 2018.pdf (392.64 KB)

Hi guys, I know it is a busy time of the year for everyone and I certainly don't want to rush anyone but, wouldn't it be time to have a "2018 EWCG codebook". I am eager to see more people use the new procedure.

Since a new procedure has been presented and I haven't read up on the details around it I did as mauser to post something like this for 2018 but with the new procedure. I didn't get anything back so here comes the same message but now to anyone who feel they can do it I'm embarrassed to say that I have neglected this forum and now the end of the year is here so a new codebook post is needed for 2018. Earlier I was thinking of doing pretty much the same as for 2017, just change the keywords to 2018 and repeat the post. Now you have written a lot of new procedures and such and I haven't done much more than taken a quick look so I know what I did is no longer good enough. Since I'm coming late to the game I don't even know what's needed any more so I'm asking you, can you create a "2018 EWCG codebook" post for 2018. Something like enigmaworldcodegroup.freeforums.net/thread/103/2017-ewcg-codebook but with new procedures and so on. If you want to you can use the meinenigma.com/keychart.php for key generation. I was planning on creating an option for 10 bigram tables but since you created the nice pdf I see no reason for that now. Was also planning on creating a officers and while I started I only made it as far as that entering something like meinenigma.com/officer_keysheet.php?seed=20180101&startyear=2018&startmonth=1&span=year works but that one need more work (front page like the keychart.php for a start) With some luck I should be able to spend some more time in this forum next year, at least that is my goal.
