Hi All,
I've been trying to solve an enigma puzzle but I'm struggling to identify the first trigram as start position on the rotors.
I'm after the message key for 27 October 1944 from Army Staff Machine No 28 (please see the attachment below).
This is my first attempt to play with the enigma so any advise would be more then welcome.

Not sure what you're asking but usually, start position is not on the KeySheet, it's in the message header. Depending on what procedure you're using, those trigramms can be a "check" to make sure you're using the right key or they can be...well... not used

I agree that the message header is normally where to look. But I recall a message here some time back where the fellow was doing some kind of geocaching puzzle. The kenngruppe held the trigraphs for the message key. I think we might be able to help if we also had the ciphertext to look at.
