So, you have been playing with three rotor machines, but now want to create your own Kriegsmarine sheets. How can you do this? Turns out, it is quite simple. First, create a new set of code sheets that will be only used to create your personal inner and outer settings. I am using one day from the U571 January 1944 sheet as my example. We will use Bruce Culp’s inner and outer settings for the 31st as our guide. ... Read the attached document for all the details! If you want to see what the completely translated “U571 JANUAR 1944” code sheet looks like, check the end of the document. I also included the spreadsheet I used to completely translate the code sheet. It's rough, you have to manually look for duplicated key indicators, etc., but it shows how you might do it in a more automated fashion. Enjoy! JRSM

If you want a quick way to generate keycheets/keychart/codebook/table for 3 or 4 rotor enigmas you can use enigma.lpaseen.com/keychart.php. It can be random each time you use it or generate repeatable key sheets based on 5 keywords you provide so you can share keywords over (five) different means with some friends and you then both can create a same key sheet.

lpaseen, Great work on the key generator. A couple of comments: For the three wheel machines, when the option to show the reflector is chosen, the D reflector is shown in the generated key list. The D reflector was rewirable and thus the settings must be listed. Not aware of a simulation that can change the reflector on the fly. www.cryptomuseum.com/crypto/enigma/ukwd/index.htmNotice the 4th column with the settings that change every 10 days. Those are for reflector D. www.cryptomuseum.com/crypto/enigma/ukwd/img/lw_key_2744_full.jpgReflector A was used in machines that did not have 8 wheels, only 5 at the most, possibly only 3. www.cryptomuseum.com/crypto/enigma/i/index.htmFor the 4 wheel machines, the key list format looks different, it is split in inner and outer settings. A basic start position is listed and only one key indicator is used. Inner: media.wix.com/ugd/abb462_28a30806cd3d4bb38947340cb3ee2413.pdfOuter: media.wix.com/ugd/abb462_8fd0b7b2e25b4f158154bf2a85bcbbb4.pdfThe 4 wheel enigmas were capable of being locked, posession of the outer settings did not imply one knew, or was able to change the inner settings. So the keys need to be split. Thanks,

First of big thanks for your feedback UKWD - bug, did intent to have UKWD as an option (in a future version) with it's own week column but not as an option in the "random UKW" column. Did miss UKWA limited use, guess I should add some "min UKW" or ukwrange option. On the other hand, I did read that UKW was changed monthly instead of daily so it's a stretch to have it as a daily anyway. My plan is actually to change the rotor count and max rotor to a dropdown list of the different machines and then autofill in the rotor part plus a custom option. I did look for 4 wheel enigma keysheet to go by and had problem to find any at all, at least any real ones (got some where 9 rotors where in any of the 4 positions and no gamma/beta rotor) so I did a guess. Maybe that's because of the inner/outer split there, have to read up more on that. For now I quickly fixed to not have UKWD listed at all, the rest I may fix later. Did also fix so anyone interested can read the source code at enigma.lpaseen.com/keychart.phps

Have now finally updated enigma.lpaseen.com/keychart.php with an option to generate inner/outer settings. I understand that it's several rules around what rotor can be used or not, inner settings only change every second day, plugboard has restriction like A not to B and so on but this generator has no such restriction (and the germans greatly helped BP by having those restrictions since that reduced the number of possible combinations) I left the 4 rotor version as a single sheet if that is requested, if the keywords are filled in the resulting key settings will be same for dual sheet or single sheet version.

jrsm I have now read this post a bit closer (sorry for not doing that first) and wonder if you did post bigram tables anywhere and I just missed that? Besides in the procedure at www.enigmaworldcodegroup.com/#!decrypting-kriegsmarine/c18zd and users.telenet.be/d.rijmenants/en/enigmaproc.htm I haven't seen much about the triton procedure and even less about the bigram tables. The only thing I got a hint about is that it seems like it was several bigram tables and something like keysetting or day or something did decide which one to use for this specific message (and that makes sens, having same bigram table for every message soon makes it obsolete).
