Hi, Woody, Thank you so much for the wonderful close-up photos of the Spanish Enigma machine. I have never seen better ones than yours! Great close-ups. And what detail! It's a 4-rotor model, like the kind used by the German Navy and U-boats a little later in the war, except yours has numbers on it. Great work, buddy! Your Enigma pal, Bruce

I note that the top line of letters on the lamp board have the numerals 1 to 9 above them. I had read 'somewhere' that the early ENIGMA machines used these letters to also represent numbers. I think this confirms it. I wonder what was used for zero? This machine also seems to lack steckers.

You are right, Woody. The German forces that were in Spain helping Franco during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), used the commercial Enigma machine. --David Kahn, Seizing the Enigma, 2012, pg. 101 Bruce Culp

I would like to talk with you all about this as well to?, I just wonder how soon you can all get back to me on this subject.

Curious about the post from Arduino Enigma. Are there some settings I'm missing? Didn't get clear text from MRS YOM using the default settings.Perhaps I'm using the wrong rotors and/or steckers? Please advise.

1) Get the 2016 code books from: enigmaworldcodegroup.freeforums.net/thread/55/optional-2016-ewcg-codebook2) Set up your machine as an M3 with B reflector. 3) Note the date for the post and use the corresponding daily settings. The first three letters of the first five letter group will match one of the Kenngruppen settings. Ignore the next two letters. 4) Set the wheels to the first three letters of the message (MRS), type the next three letters (YOM), note the decoded letters and set the wheels to that. 5) Start typing from the second five letter group.

Dear starbird1942,
Still no luck? Look at the Kengruppe. They are not for Feb 1, 2016 .
