Hello peoples
attached is a zip file with 2018 M3 code sheets, 12 individual PDF files. I have M4 sheets, but file size forced me to split the load.
my next post will have the 2018 M4 sheets

Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to make these
you asked to check for mistakes in the codesheets.
I am sorry to inform you that the 2018 M3 codesheets are labeled as EWCG2017.
I am sure a little flip of the codebook tool switch should clear that problem.
While you're at it, do you have the ability to generate OFFIZIER codesheets?

Hi Arnaud
I love and hate you at the same time, but thank you for taking the time to check the key sheets. I will post the correct sheets tomorrow, as for OTO sheets, not sure. all the ones I have seen so far seem to be "hand" made, but will look into more in-depth! regards
OIK

You're welcome...sort of..LOL As far as OtO is concerned, mauser shared a version of the Codebook Tool which he enhanced with an Officer's sheet generator. link is here

Hi, Thanks for taking the time to make these you asked to check for mistakes in the codesheets. I am sorry to inform you that the 201 8 M3 codesheets are labeled as EWCG201 7.I am sure a little flip of the codebook tool switch should clear that problem. While you're at it, do you have the ability to generate OFFIZIER codesheets? Ok we have a slight problem, I do not have the full version of Adobe so I cant change the current ones, they may also be password protected. if I generate new ones with the correct text, I can replace the posted ZIP file. I will remove the current file for the time been.

However, as previously noted, it generates 11 Stecker pairs vice 10. Workaround is dont use the 11th pair

I already asked that question in my Berlin 2018 thread, but why are there rotors above V in the [EWCG2018] code sheets? I thought it was for the wehrmacht M3, which used only up to V?
I'm rather new at this whole Enigma thing, so forgive if I overlooked something.

I'm rather new at this whole Enigma thing, so forgive if I overlooked something. If I remember correctly the first Enigmas (before the war) were used for commercial applications and only had 3 rotors to choose from. (First military Enigma also had only 3 rotors (1927)) Still before the war (1932) the Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe used the Enigma I which had two extra rotors to choose from thus increasing the breaking of a code. In 1934, the Kriegsmarine used the Enigma M1 model with 8 rotors to choose from...not really sure what happend to M2 but when war broke out they were using M3 model (8 rotors). Then in 1941, the M4 model (4 wheels) was used only by the Uboats. M4 can be made compatible with M3. Nice infos here

I already asked that question in my Berlin 2018 thread, but why are there rotors above V in the [EWCG2018] code sheets? I thought it was for the wehrmacht M3, which used only up to V? I'm rather new at this whole Enigma thing, so forgive if I overlooked something. You make an excellent point. I went back an ran Dirk's Enigma codebook tool, and if you select Wehrmacht/Luftwaffe code pages, what you get is 5 wheels only. I then did a quick look see at Dirk's website and there is a Wehrmacht code sheet for the month of October 1944, and there are only 5 wheels. I wouldn't change anything this late in the year, but whoever is building the code books for the 3-wheel Wehrmacht/Luftwaffe machines should only do so for 5 wheels. I've got my hands full doing the M4 code books, bigram tables, and newsletters, so somebody should stand up to do the Werhmacht/Luftwaffe code books
The M3 machines did have 8 wheels. When the 4-wheel M4 was introduced, they designed it to be compatible to the M3. The M3 was compatible to the 3-wheel Army/Air Force machine if you used their codesheets and did not use anymore wheels then I to V. To make the M4 compatible to the M3 you simply choose your reflector, B or C. If B, then you selected the Beta thin wheel and set the ring to A and set it to show A in the window. That "nulled out" the reflector and it was the same as the M3 with it's B reflector. Likewise, if you wanted to use the C reflector, you selected the Gamma thin wheel and set it's ring to A and displayed A in the widow. Then the wiring was identical to the M3's C reflector.
