Forgive me, I'm behind the curve.
What code sheet are we using?

I read someplace that some version of the enigma could produce a paper strip like a teletype with the info printed on the paper. Sorry I didn't encrypt this....getting late and I have to get to bed but did wanted to add my two cents

It was an external device, the Schreibmax. The lamp cover and all the bulbs had to be removed and it replaced the onboard battery for power, instead it fed high voltage, but low amperage through the contacts. Check out the power supply, it had a snubber circuit for each key, making it larger than the enigma and printer assembly together. www.cryptomuseum.com/crypto/enigma/schreibmax/index.htm

Nice Link. I see the 220 volts needed for the circuit. Would this still be used in the field or maybe found more in building with supplied power?

That was supposedly considered a "flaw" in Enigma. I 1) don't understand why it would be a flaw, and 2) wouldn't that have been easily fixed by the Germans?

fre366, I think questions like about the printer or tasks like a cryptogram deserves their own thread, no need to hijack this thread where people won't read it unless thee are ready to decrypt enigma code.

Mr. Ipa.....I was not attempting to HIJACK this thread. My comment about the printer was in RESPONSE to your encrypted message which YOU ASKED A QUESTION concerning what the slot was on an Enigma machine. I was simply replying to that question which not any different than Arduino replying about the Schreibmax. Since there are only a few ACTIVE members and this seems to be the thread where the few of us are gathering I did not see any harm in posting the cryto here for the few of us to take part in. This is the first forum that I have participated in so I hope I have not done something wrong by trying to be active and help keep the forum going. The term HIJACK to me suggests stealing and I am not a thief. If your wanting to bring more members to this forum you might want to be a little kinder in your comments.

Dear fra366
Please place your crypto back in a new post. I am working on it but so far no luck. Your crypto idea is very much apricieted. My time is some what limited due to work but I try to visit the forum and work on the challenges as much as possible.

I do apologize, didn't mean to call you a thief or anything. I was just thinking that your posts did deserve a better exposure than piggy back on a thread of misc rambling. I was just looking for something to encrypt when I wrote my square question, guess that one is (also) better suited in a thread like the one you just started.
