Idly perusing the Web I came accross coffee cups relating to ENIGMA. One had a bit of code on it. Naturally there were no settings or other information. So far I've deduced that it is NOT Kriegsmarine, as the groups are in the four letter format. Other than that, I'm at a loss.
The groups are: ISGY RTMP MXDT RJVV QFCC and so on. The G may also be a C.
If ya'll come up with the correct settings, please advise, as I'm interested in purchasing a couple of these, but not if they're not readable.

As question #1 on the enigma FAQ at users.telenet.be/d.rijmenants/en/faq.htm states - with just the encrypted text it's almost impossible to find the key. If you wonder how hard with todays computer, it does exist a project at www.enigmaathome.net/ that does nothing but trying to crack messages using distributed computers and it still takes cpu years to crack just one message. Your best chance is to contact whoever make that mug and get some more info. I did find www.cafepress.com/mf/60446606/enigma-code_mugs?productId=581891305 and that might be the one you find but I don't see any hints as to what key was used or so. It states something else is shown when it gets hot but that seems to be just the keyboard so that's not much help there. If that's the one you need to contact Curtis Mattoon to get hints about the key settings or maybe it's just some random letters to make it look cool.

What if the dude that makes these doesn't know anything about Enigma and is just surfing on the merchandising wave of "anything that can be revealed" whith his mugs?
It's a bit like when I see clothes with japanese writing on them...I can't help but wonder if that is real japanese.
I've seen a bunch of things coming from asia or usa with french stuff written on it...they're usually real words but don't add up to a real sentence.

That's what I meant with "maybe it's just some random letters to make it look cool" and that's what I'm thinking it may be. Was also thinking about how to make my own version but of course real message and they key is reviled when the cup gets hot. First I need to figure out a place to get that cup, then I have to come up with some cool message
