As we develop the new Kenngruppenbuch procedure, I noticed that in the real procedure the Tauschtafelplan (Exchange Group), there are 10 options indicating there are 10 bigrams (lettered A through J). Here, we have a bigram per month as created by lpaseen. In my other group, we use 26 bigrams (lettered A through Z). So, if we started to use a Kenngruppenbuch and a more realistic M4 procedure, how many bigrams would you want to see. Take the poll. Thanks!

I did ask about the procedure a few times but never got more than "I will soon post it" and after a few months I gave up. What is the procedure - how would one know what bigram table/letter to use ? Going with 10, would that be 10 per year? I hope it's not 10 per month
As for voting, I'm split between 10 and 12. I think the procedure may be complicated enough already and going with one per month makes it a little simpler but I also want it to be like real procedure leaning towards the original 10.

When the Kengruppenbuch is finished, we will have instructions. In fact the 5 pages of instructions in the real book are being translated as we speak. The tauschtafeplan is a table with months across the top and days down the side. You select the month and day and the letter in the cell identifies which bigram to use for that day. If the group chooses 10 or 12 is no matter since I’ll build the table for either. Bruce Culp and I will simply update the M4 procedure on the website to add the table lookup to the procedure. The WWII system used 9 to 10 bigram tables for the year or more.
I’m totally open to 12 tables since you’ve built code to generate bigram tables. I think all I would ask is that instead of titling them as per month, they get titled as per letter ( A, B, C, ...). That way the table in the K-Book will be compatible.
By 2018 this group will have accurate procedures for: 1. M4 messages (complete and published) 2. Offizier and Nixie 3. Weather 4. Short Signal (Kurzsignale)
If you thought the standard Kriegsmarine procedure was complicated, you’ll “love” the short message procedure. Go look on Dirk’s website for the Kurzsignal. But for those wanting realism you’ll have it.

If you want to build the bigrams for the 2018 EWCG code book, that would be great. I have a set of 10 already created FWIW. The Tauschtafelplan is also complete and inserted into the new K-book. I'm completing Teil B as I write this, Teil A is complete. I need to update the Zuteilungslifte for our purposes, but that is maybe a half day job to do. Teil B is the bigger task. With Teil B complete, we will have a complete K-book ready to publish.
Likewise at the same time, I'm working up a Kurzsignalheft Heft I (Satzbuch) from a group of outstanding images taken of the inside of of the 1944 edition that someone graciously supplied. Heft II, Kengruppenheft zum Kurzsignalheft, and the Marinefunknamenliste are all complete.

The Kenngruppenbuch is finished and Bruce Culp is writing the instructions into the M4 procedure. I’m still wanting to include the translated instructions into the book itself before I upload. I hope to upload in the next few weeks. The Kurzsignalheft book 1 is about 50% complete but I hope to have it done and ready to upload the complete Short Message System books before New Years.

Although we only we had 4 votes, it was unanimous, 10 bigram tables it is. Expect them, the K-Book and the bigrams in the next 2 weeks or less.
