Starting in January, I plan to start a message string based on the after action reports submitted to BdU. So, let’s say you are on U-96. And you are departing for a mission. I’m going to play BdU and post clues and messages related to the actual patrol. I’ll send requests for short messages, weather reports etc. You’ll get directions to proceed to positions and take up attacks against spotted ships. I will draw all this traffic from the actual KTB reports. This gets you practice with both free form Enigma general procedure messages and wetterkurzel, and Kurzsignale. All of these will use M4 “advanced” procedures.
who is interested?

I am definitely interested. It kind of reminds me of my silent hunter days.

I really like the idea..
However I totally lack the time. I have not even completely read the new procedure yet...so for now, I cannot even decipher new messages.
But it is really nice to see someone as dedicated as you are.

ZZ9pZa I'm not much of a gamer but given that I actually once served as a radio operator on a submarine silent hunter is one of the 3 games I ever bought (the other are riven and myst) and is the only reason I still have a windoze partition around on my desktop (and now I think it will soon be tried out again after doing nothing for a few montsh). I'm a bit like Arnaud - I like the idea of more realistic war games but it will require a lot of time and dedication and I feel I been neglecting this forum a lot already so I can't commit to it unless I suddenly find a lot of spare time (an that never ever happened to me).

Hey, just popped in to see if anything was starting here! I know I said I don't have the time to get involved in a "timed and competitive" game. However, I sure like to try new things in my own time, at my own pace. (operation Tinkerbell was a lot of fun)
If you ever post reports of any sorts, be sure I'll have a go at it.

Working on them now. As many saw my Christmas was seriously blown and it has taken some time to get back in the saddle so to speak.
