Hello, I have been trying to decrypt 4 rotor messages for a few months now and have met with little success. I am referring to the EWCG Newsletters that feature the various 4 rotor types. In looking at older message posts in the forum, I get the idea that there is different bigrams for use at different times in the history of the posts, and different procedures for those time periods.
So, if anyone has these bigrams and procedures -- it would be nice to post them again for the newbies to have access. If you only have one or two please post them ! Someone else will post what they have and we may get lucky and have a complete set. Might be good to identify what messages they work on.
(( just for info, I have numbered the Newsletters from 1 to 41 for easy reference ))
and I have not decrypted the M4's on 5,23,24,26,27,28,29,30,31,32,33,34,35,36,37,38,39,40,41...

Can you send me an example of one message please? The numbers you use are not clear for me. Then I can try and decrypt them with the sheets I have. I have several key sheets but especially in the "early days" there where several version that have been used.

hi eric, here is my work up for #38 (or March/April 2018) message #3: for 9th day key ind LFM BBRH HOSU = rt lb fy mm so rlfm = lfm key indicator tbym = step 11 of 4 rotor procedure
bigram used has AA=RN on first page and QA=BG on second page. inner setting page one has LFM, 9, b, beta A, iii X, iv c, vii R. outer settings for LFM are 9 17/24 19/23 8/25 6/10 18/20 12/7 9/5 13/4 3/1 22/15 JDXW init strt pos TBYM decodes to QTVA
hope this is enough and that you can decode Belcher method!!
if you have older info not on website please send.

Dear Claude,
You are very close. One little mistake, TBYM decodes to QTVC not QTVA. Try setting the rotors to QTVC and decrypt.
The message starts with: GERMANFOURROTOR.......
